....Before we received the Award

We had the formal presentation of The King's Award for Voluntary Service by His Majesty's Lord Lieutenant for Cumbria Alexander Scott.  What a wonderful opportunity it was to gather together to celebrate the achievements of the volunteers past and present who have worked so tirelessly to bring KCHT into existence and to grow it. KCHT is one of only a handful of Community Land Trusts that have done 4 or more developments, and is unique in it being 100% volunteer led.  It was lovely that so many people could join us who have contributed so much over the years to the success of KCHT.

.....and off to the Palace we go!

As a result of KCHT receiving the Kings Award for Voluntary Service last November, our Chair Bill Bewley and his wife Wendy represented KCHT at the first garden party of the year in Buckingham Palace - and had a chat to the King!

KCHT RECEIVES KINGS AWARD FOR VOLUNTARY SERVICE

This award is fantastic recognition for the many volunteers, past and present who have worked so tirelessly to support KCHT in providing over 40 safe, secure, affordable homes here in Keswick.  It is the highest award a local voluntary group can receive in the UK and is equivalent to an MBE.

Hedge Planting at Calvert Way

​We spent a beautiful sunny saturday morning planting a row of beech hedging on either side of the entrance to Calvert Way - ably assisted by little helpers. Many thanks to the Lake District Foundation for their grant, which covered the costs of the plants and sustainable compost from Dalefoot, and to Atkinsons for digging the planting trenches for us.

Winners of the NCLT Beautiful Community Led Homes Award

​We are very proud to announce that at the National Community Land Trust Awards ceremony on 20th November, our Southey Court development was chosen as the winner in the category of Beautiful Community Led Homes. We think Southey Court is rather lovely, and to get this recognition is the icing on the cake.

We re-used the stones from the old church hall building in the exterior wall of our end house.
